Sustainability

Denim Supplier:
Orta denim respects tradition and the environment, starting with our fabric. We opt for denim fabrics that look and feel authentic, while minimizing their effects on the planet.

Since its inception, ORTA has been weaving a denim heritage passed from generation to
generation. Founded in 1953, ORTA transformed from a spinning & weaving company to a denim manufacturer in 1985. Today, ORTA operates in Turkey with its 1000+ employees, creating a platform for leading manufacturers to step up and reclaim a denim industry where more aesthetics leads to more ethics.

At ORTA sustainability is ‘business as usual’ and managed through an operational model
comprised of 3 pillars: Product, Process and Purpose. Product is the area where fibres and
innovative sustainable processes are managed. In Process, energy, chemicals, emissions,
water, waste, and stakeholder engagement are carefully examined. And Purpose defines social missions and labour rights. The sustainability model is evolving every day.
Circularity, transparent sourcing, ethical manufacturing are all part of ORTA’s eco-modern
handprint. Celebrating more than half a century in denim manufacturing, ORTA is proud to
continue this rich legacy of trade, shared ideas and the flow of information to future generations to come.

Fibers:
Organic cotton is grown without any toxic chemicals or genetically modified seeds. It has a low impact on the environment. Organic production leaves the soil useful for other crops tsupplement farmers’ food and income. It is beneficial for biodiversity. In contrast, conventional cotton can be a chemical-intensive process. These chemicals such as insecticides and pesticides have a tremendous negative effect on air, water, and soil. As they are among the most toxic substances around, they also have a huge impact on people’s health in cotton-growing areas.
